Distinguished Advisors, Honourable guests, and dear participants,

I am more than glad to announce the first session of Beşiktaş Anatolian High School’s Model United Nations Conference MUNB’18 which will be held between 26-29th October of 2018. Our MUN club has dedicated itself to organize a spectacular conference which I wholeheartedly believe you participants will find both entertaining and academically satisfying.

Our academic team offers 6 committees to you dear participants this year. Delegates assigned to General Assembly 1: Disarmament and International Security Committee will deal with two agenda items: Demilitarization of the South China Sea and Preventing the Armament in the Outer Space. Our second and last General Assembly Committee is General Assembly 3: Social, Humanitarian & Cultural Committee. Delegates assigned to GA 3 are expected to find solutions to The Rohingya Crisis and Elimination of Child Labour. I recommend these two committees to the newcomer delegates.

United Nations Security Council will discuss the Situation in Syria and Jammu Kashmir Dispute. UNSC requires delegates to be experienced in problem solving as they have to be involved in several regional conflicts and will have to find ways to oversee and protect the civilian population in the designated war zones.

The Joint Crisis Committee of MUNB’18 will undertake the Spanish Civil War, a historical event that occured between July 17, 1936 and April 1, 1939. Will the communist regime of Republicans be able to prevail with Secretary-General José Diaz? Will the Nationalists under President Francisco Franco be able to unite the Spaniards against the anarchists? Our delegates will have the opportunity to change the past and shape the future in this committee.

Organization for Security and Co-Operation in Europe (OSCE) is an organization that was established in 1973 which aimed to act as a multilateral forum for dialogue and negotiation between East and West. Delegates assigned to OSCE will discuss the Situation in Ukraine and combatting the terrorism along with sustaining the border control systems among the member states.

National 9/11 Commission 2002 is a commission that was formed after the terrorist attacks on World Trade Center by Al-Qaeda. The committee aims to Promote Stability in United States instantly after the attacks.

As the Secretary-General of MUNB’18 I welcome and invite you to our conference on behalf of our academic and organization teams. We hope to offer you an unforgettable MUN experience with the marvelous sight of Bosphorus Strait.

Kindest regards,

Ege BEKAR

Secretary-General of MUNB’18
